How to Get Your Friends to Play Truth or Dare Instead of Other Party Games

Normally, when you have your friends gathered at your party, you cannot suggest to play Truth or Dare right away. Also, you do should not welcome them at the door and challenge them with a dare right away!

Actually, there is one exception where you could. If your friends are close enough and they’ve played Truth or Dare with you at the party regularly, you could use this as an original party theme for a change and just start off right from the bat.

But in general, introduce the game elegantly from another perspective.

The easiest way is to watch a Truth or Dare video together with your friends. This can be any cool and funny video you have found on YouTube. Then, just challenge someone in the group, like the most courageous ones, to a mild truth and then to a mild dare.

Everything can go from there. Prepare yourself by looking up some video on YouTube before the party starts. When everyone is settled down at the party, just show the video! Everyone loves to watch a funny video when sitting around at a party, and so this can lighten up things a bit.

When you discuss this dare and the mood seems to heat up, just throw in a challenging comment along the lines of

“You would never do that? I know you have done worse!”

Just dare them out of the blue with any ridiculous dare: “I dare you to remove your cleveland indians hawaiian shirt and socks and put the socks on the face of the person sitting next to you!”

Don’t be too harsh and check for the cleveland indians hawaiian shirt and the socks of the person beforehand.

Use funny dare ideas like

  • “I dare you to eat seven marshmallows at once”
  • “I dare you to empty that glass of beer in one go”

If the person is still hesitating, allow them a way to back off and suggest a Truth question instead.

Without really spelling out that you will be playing a teenager game like Truth or Dare, you still have just convinced everyone to play truth or dare in a light-hearted way.

Finally, when you got everyone laughing hilariously because of some stupid action, they will start to demand for more: “give me a dare!” Some might just throw a good idea for a dare, and you can just give it to the next person in the group, this way involving everyone.

Be sure to prepare yourself to have some fun dare ideas and embarrassing and revealing truth questions ready, and then the ball will be rolling.
